Home » Clinical CarePROSTATE and UROLOGIC CANCER![]() Dr. Leonard G. Gomella and staff At Jefferson, you will find the latest and most progressive treatment programs aided by an outstanding cancer team and state-of-the-art technology. Our team consists of medical oncologists, urologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists and radiologists who meet regularly to review and discuss treatment options and strategies for patients being treated at Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center. This means you get all the skill and expertise you need right here. The Multidisciplinary Genitourinary Center at the Kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson was organized in January 1996. This program is one of only a handful of such progressive programs available in the US. Patients with urologic malignancies such as prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular or other cancers can receive input from multiple cancer specialists during one visit. Upon calling for an appointment, you will be asked to have your relevant films, records, and pathology slides sent to Jefferson. You will receive an appointment for the Multidisciplinary Genitourinary Center for the next available Wednesday morning. Following your visit, your case will be reviewed during a management conference. Experts in urologic oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and integrative medicine will meet to discuss a treatment plan for you. Your referring physician will receive a brief report by telephone or fax within 24 hours of your visit, and a full written report will follow shortly thereafter by mail. Patients can be treated at the cancer center, treatment recommendations can be made to the referring physician, or confirmation of treatment plans are available. In addition, a large number of Cancer Center and intergroup trials are available. Many of these protocols are available at the Jefferson Cancer Network Hospitals.
