There are three main areas of volunteer opportunities at the Kimmel Cancer Center. Please review the programs listed below and contact the appropriate coordinator. The mission of the Science Outreach Program is to foster an enthusiasm for science education; promote interest for future participation in a biology-related field; and allow all students the opportunity to learn life science through a hands-on, student-centered approach to instruction. This is a free program that reaches out to children in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The Science Outreach Program hopes to foster knowledge of and experience in science education to all students and teachers regardless of community, poverty or race. Patient Advocacy and Survivorship Programs The Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson provides cancer survivors with opportunities to make their voices heard at the Center by serving on various committees. Cancer survivors also serve as trained volunteer buddies to help newly diagnosed cancer patients cope with their cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Kimmel Cancer Center offers a wide range of education and support programs for patients and their families before, during, and after treatment.
